The Runner’s Alley 10K Training Group was successful for me — it got me back into a running routine, it encouraged me to join a running group, to successfully run a 10K, and even to sign up for the entire Seacoast Running Series! Well that group ended in June with the Market Square 10K, but the Half Marathon Training Group has begun (there is still time to sign up!) I thought about joining it, decided to do it (“why not?”)…decided not to do it (“I don’t want to run 13.2 miles”)…decided to do it (“It will give me good training, even if I don’t run the race”)….decided not to do it (“It’s too soon, maybe I’ll run a half marathon next year”)….and finally around 2:00 today I decided to DO IT! (“Next year? what about NOW?”) And besides I might lose a few pounds.
The first training session was tonight. We’ll meet every Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday mornings for the next 13 weeks to get us trained and ready for the Seacoast Half Marathon I’m a little apprehensive. I’ve run a half marathon, actually, I’ve run 2 or 3, but that was over 10 years ago. But, I can do it! I’m not going to think about the full distance. I’m going to take it a week at a time and slowly eek up my mileage. Tonight we ran 4 miles — I’m on my way!
